The Story Behind the Lift

Cousins Josh and Alex put themselves through college by doing the tough, often messy work most people avoid. Their summers were spent in crawl spaces, evenings mud-jacking patios, and weekends stabilizing pool decks, driveways, and sidewalks for a national contractor. They found the hands-on challenge rewarding, but the high-pressure sales culture wasn’t for them. After graduating, one with an MBA and the other a CPA, they sketched out a better plan at Josh’s kitchen table. Their idea was simple: combine data-driven diagnostics with the kind of care you’d expect from a neighbor, all backed by clear, honest pricing. That’s how RhinoLift was born, with Russel the Rhino as its symbol of unshakable protection.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Sciences from Appalachian State University and a Master of Business Administration – Finance from the University of South Carolina. Josh has worked in commercial & residential construction for over eight years and has been in the Foundation Repair & Waterproofing industry for 7 years. Josh is a licensed General Contractor in North & South Carolina, previously owned a foundation waterproofing company, and acted as a General Manager for a startup in the foundation repair industry before founding RhinoLift Foundation Solutions.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting from Appalachian State University and a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Alex is a licensed CPA and spent almost three years as a Senior Associate with a “big four” accounting firm. Alex worked on large bank audits and assessments of large construction companies. Before co-founding RhinoLift, Alex managed a team doing a very detailed analysis & audit of a large commercial bank.
