Exterior Brick Cracking From Foundation Settlement

M. Preston first noticed cracks forming in the exterior brickwork of their home. Over time, the cracking became more extensive, spreading across multiple walls. These weren’t cosmetic hairline cracks. They were signs of active foundation movement. Our specialist, Grant Crowden, performed a full inspection and confirmed the home was experiencing significant settlement. The soil beneath the foundation had shifted, creating uneven support that was pulling the structure downward. Without intervention, the damage would continue to worsen.
40 Helical Piers Around the Full Perimeter

40 Helical Piers Around the Full Perimeter
To permanently stabilize the home, RhinoLift installed 40 helical piers around the entire perimeter of the foundation. Helical piers are driven deep into stable soil below the shifting layers, transferring the weight of the home to solid ground and stopping further movement.
Our crew, led by foreman Austin Hood, completed the installation with minimal disruption to the property. Each pier was carefully positioned to ensure even load distribution and long-term stability across the full footprint of the home.
Settlement Stopped, Structure Stabilized
The home’s foundation is now fully stabilized. The settlement has been stopped, and the homeowner can move forward knowing the ground beneath their home is solid. The exterior cracking will no longer progress, and any cosmetic brick repairs can be made without the risk of new damage appearing.

40 Helical Piers Around the Full Perimeter
Foundation settlement doesn’t resolve on its own. What starts as a few cracks in brick can quickly become a serious structural problem if the soil keeps moving. The Prestons made the right call by reaching out early, and our team delivered a permanent solution before the damage escalated.
Helical piers are steel shafts with plates that are driven into stable soil beneath your foundation. They transfer the weight of your home to solid ground and stop further settling.
It depends on the size of the home and the extent of the settlement. In this case, 40 piers were needed to stabilize the full perimeter.
Not typically. Our crews work from the exterior and leave the property clean and organized. Most installations are completed within a few days.
The piers stop further movement, which means cracks won’t get worse. Some cracks may close slightly over time, and cosmetic repairs can be made once the foundation is stable.
If you’re noticing cracks in your brick, uneven floors, or doors that won’t close right, don’t wait for the problem to get worse.
